We love our mother’s and we love to share our love with the supporting and nurturing mothers around the world. Sisters, wives, aunts, grandmas, and girlfriends alike are all female figures who have helped us live our life to the fullest. So how do people celebrate Mother’s Day with their loved ones?

Mother’s Day Celebrations Around the World

According to whsv.com, Mother’s day falls on the same day—second Sunday of May—in most countries. Here is a list thanks to whsv.com of how Mother’s day is celebrated from country to continent:

Mother’s Day in the United State is considered as the next big day after Christmas and Valentines Day. Phone lines record a heavy traffic, card sales reach their peak and restaurants are filled to their maximum capacity. Traditions for this day generally include things like breakfast in bed, giving flowers, cards or gifts, and treating them to a meal.

In Australia, people celebrate Mother’s day by wearing Carnations to symbolize their love. As a mark of respect children pamper their mother on Mother’s Day by treating them with breakfast in bed and with gifts and cakes.

In Ireland, Mother’s Day is not celebrated on same day as in U.S. Mother’s Day celebrations in Ireland take place on the fourth Sunday in the Christian fasting month of Lent. The history of celebrating Mothering Sunday, or Mother’s Day in Ireland, can be traced to the medieval practice where children from poor families were sent to work as domestic servants and apprentices to work with the rich. Once in the year in the middle of the Lent these children were given a day off to visit their ‘Mother Church’ and worship Virgin Mary. After visiting the Mother Church or Cathedral of their home town these children visited their mothers and presented them with flowers they picked along the way. On Mother’s Day, people in Ireland present flowers and cards to their mothers to express love and gratitude.

Unlike the United States and several other countries, Mother’s Day in Spain is celebrated on December 8th. Spaniards pay tribute not only to their own mothers on this day, but also to the Virgin Mary. Mother’s Day in Spain includes religious celebrations across the country.

With cute baby products, baby accessories, and not to mention your baby as the cutest accessory of them all, it’s not hard to be fashionable and active at the same time! Celebrate World Health Day with your family by heading outdoors to catch some fresh air and move those muscles every day.

Work and Play Fashion

Everyone wants to look their best at all times, but when you’re working up a sweat, it can be hard to look put together. As long as you have a smile on your face while getting some outdoor fun with your little one, you will look your best. For the sake of fashion, however, we’ve put together some ideas of cute workout outfits for you and your kids! They can easily transition from work to play just by the addition or subtraction of a blazer or scarf!

Weather Permitting

Is the weather too murky, cold, or wet for you to get outside? No worries! There are fun and easy ways to get active inside the comfort of your home. Try one round of the following exercises and if your kids are up to more, go for a second round! Educate your children about the importance of fitness and make it fun and challenging by offering prizes at the end! Perhaps they get to make their own healthy pizzas afterwards, or thinking of a fun activity to do the next day-even if that means going to the waterpark.

  1. Squats

  2. Push-ups
If your child doesn’t want to do these, try suggesting push-ups against a countertop or chair.
Perform them against the wall, lower against a countertop, against a chair for added difficulty, on your knees on the ground, or on your toes all the way out.

  3. Lunges
Keep your back tall and lower your left knee towards the ground (visualize lunging “down” rather than “forward” to keep your right knee from going over your right toes). Come back up and do it again

  4. The Plank (5 to 10 seconds at a time)
Drop into “push up position” but from your elbows which should be situated directly under your shoulders.
  5. Burpees
These moves can be pretty tough so don’t worry if you or your child needs to take it slow. Jump up, hands in the air and land down on the ground; jump your feet back into plank position from your hands; perform a push up; jump your feet back up to your hands and jump up.
  6. Jumping Rope
The old playground favorite! Try jumping as many times as you can for 45 sec and then break for 15 sec; repeat for 5 – 20 minutes as you have time and are able fitness-wise.

Let it all go, and have fun you fitness fashionista!

Fashion Week has come to an end and to spread the February love and new trends, we are featuring styles and activities to help parents save time while making memories with your little ones.

February is the month of love and it’s time to paint the town red with Valentine’s themed Fashion! Reds, pinks, whites and hearts are central to all things Valentine and your kids want to shine bright as the little loves of your life. Want some ideas to inspire your kids? Here are a few!

After you and your kids get all dressed up for Valentine’s Day, it’s time to enjoy some lovely activities!

Sweets for Your Sweets

Whether your kids enjoy reading, craft time, cooking or all of the above, the below ideas are sure to make their little hearts happy.

Activities like Creating Custom Conversation Hearts in Spanish for San Valentin are sure to get your children’s creative juices flowing. After being crafty, kids will be sure to gain an appetite and when that time comes, help them make some Raspberry Jam Filled Heart Cookies that they certainly deserve!

How are you spreading the love with your kids this Valentine’s Day? Share with us on Facebook or Twitter, or even in the comments below!

When it’s cold outside and your children want nothing more to do than watch television, it can be tough to motivate them to do anything else. Turn TV time into craft time and encourage children, no matter how young, to use their creativity and create something beautiful! Create a whole day of fun with educational worksheets to start off craft time. Using worksheets, stories, and puzzles to supplement your craft time will really tie the message related to what your children are learning, and make learning fun!

Build Your Own

It can be just as fun for parents to make worksheets that their children will be sure to enjoy. There are multiple options online to help you build your own worksheets, like the “winter cryptogram” below courtesy of www.kidzone.ws.

Need some inspiration? You can also turn craft time into learning time by incorporating fun activities that are timely and relevant. For example, ask your child to look out the window and answer why the window is cold or why it is fogged. Drawing inspiration from teacher’s workbooks can also help. The below is courtesy of http://www.teach-nology.com and www.getworksheets.com and is only a sampling of the many types of questions, pages, and learning activities you can gather inspiration from.

If you want to be a little more hands on, consider putting the educational and fun worksheets together with a craft project. For example, when learning about why no two snowflakes are the same, consider having your children make snowflakes of their own!

Martha Stewart has some easy to understand instructions that you can read to your children for easy snowflake making:

The New Year means a change of seasons as lighter clothes get packed away to fall in line with Winter trends. What’s in the fashion forecast for 2013? Let’s take a closer look at what you should keep and pack from your child’s wardrobe!

Hipster Boys

The hipster look, complete with moustaches, print tees and fake glasses are all the rage and will continue to be the rage into 2013. Moustaches are the fad in accessories, fun and games, and clothes now so have fun with it! Grab some moustache stickers or add a moustache to your son’s bike! Now that’s sure to add some character to his wheels. To add some style to your child’s do, cover it up with a beanie! The beanie is “hipster” in every sense of the word and is sure to keep your child’s head warm and dry.

When you’re not sure if something is “hipster”, go vintage! The best thing about the “hipster” style is that it’s unique in being unique. You throw whatever you have together and if it’s mismatched, so be it! Throw on some fake glasses or a pair of suspenders or doc martens, and you have “hipster”.

Chic and Simple Girls

Chic and simple usually equates to classic. Timeless pieces take the cake in 2013 but are distinct with their bold colors and fun prints. If your daughter, niece, or sister loves the princess style then this is the season for her! Puffy sleeves, clean lines and lace add a grown-up sophistication while keeping a whimsical flair. When you want to add a little more color to your simple whites, light blues and other pastel colors, go with geometric prints. Clothes with geometric prints often come in more than black and white and easily transition into spring and summer. Let your little girl have free reigns in dressing how she wants to see her personality shine through!

Thanksgiving is near and you’ve prepared everything for the kids table, right down to the decorations and name cards! With all the time you’ve taken to think about the kids and their food, there wasn’t a minute to spare to think about what to do with all that food…once everyone’s eaten! Ah, leftovers.

The Leftover Miracle

You did a great job helping everyone enjoy their Thanksgiving and being thankful for your family, your food, your home, and more. Now, families have returned to their daily routines and you’re left with turkey meat galore and kids on vacation or still in vacation mode. How do you beat the boredom? Enjoy activities like making lunch an activity they won’t forget.

What do you do with your Thanksgiving left overs? http://s4.hubimg.com/

Have your kids, including any nieces or nephews be a part of the kitchen crew by helping you make lunch. Recipes like leftover turkey pitas (which are like tortillas with an opening) provide a fun way for kids to get hands-on with their lunch and be creative.

Left Over Turkey Pitas

This recipe is so simple that all you need to do is place everything in a bowl and present like a salad bar for your kids to pick and choose from. Starting with a small pita, have your child choose a condiment like tzatziki sauce, mustard or ketchup and help them spread it inside the pita. Once the condiment is spread inside, let them pick and choose what they want in their pita with left-over turkey as their protein. Voila! Quick, easy, and creative lunch!

  • Small pitas
  • Left-over turkey
  • Left over cranberry sauce
  • A bowl of salad mix
  • Mustard, Ketchup, Hummus
  • Tzatziki sauce
  • Cucumbers
  • Sprouts
  • Bell peppers
  • Cheese (which ever kind your kids like)
  • A dash of lemon juice

The best thing about these kinds of kid-friendly recipes is that you can pull out all the condiments and leftovers in your fridge and have them create an edible masterpiece.

Bonding Time

Cooking with your children not only adds minutes to your bonding time, but it helps boost your kids’ confidence by providing a way for them to be proud of their creations, even if it’s using left-over turkey! So cook away and bond with your children over a table full of left-overs!

It’s nice to be able to take a moment for ourselves, from our loving kids and enjoy a meal by ourselves or just get gussied up. Sometimes, we get those chances in life when we have can enjoy more than a moment…yes, I’m talking about a weekend getaway! Alright so even if your kid or baby has to come with you, you can still make it a relaxing trip. Don’t believe us?

Your Weekend Getaway Starts Now

Grab your bag and watch your fun weekend unfurl. The trick to enjoying your weekend getaway is knowing what to take with you.

  1. Face Wipes
It’s so easy to get ready when you can wipe your face clean in seconds or less. After some time with the family in the sun or sweating it up jogging through the park with your snazzy jogger, take out a wipe (the ones that come in resealable pouches are the easiest to travel with) and your sweat is gone in a flash.

  2. Moisturizing Spray
A simple and light moisturizing face mist can help replenish your skin after a long day with the kids or even traveling to your destination via plane, car, or train. A refreshing mist will work as a pick-me up and help stay away from that long-travel-sticky-skin.

  3. Heat Protectant Spray/SPF Lotion
You may not think about your hair when going out in the sun but a heat protectant spray that is often used before applying heat to your hair can be a great spray to have on hand. If you plan on going to the beach or a hot and dry location, a quick spritz of the heat protectant spray followed by a comb can help keep you strands conditioned and safe.

Speaking of heat, don’t forget to pack some sprayable SPF lotion. Instead of having to put on thick lotion in the heat, simply spray it on. It’ll be useful for the rest of your family too!

  4. Clothes?
Yes, clothes! Dresses are the BEST packing buddy because you can pack as many as you want. Instead of packing 2-3 pieces for one outfit, packing a dress is an outfit all on its own.

  5. Face Makeup
If you don’t want to go through a whole routine of putting on makeup, add a little color by brushing on some bronzer. This not only helps contour your face but it adds depth and color, especially if you pair it with a swipe of some beautiful blush.

Have some time away from the kids to enjoy the town with your grown-up loved ones? Kick your makeup up a notch by adding a quick color to your lids and blending it in to create a smoky look.

You don’t need much to enjoy some time with your kids or even on your own! Although we only started a small list of things that can help you enjoy your vacation a little more, be on the lookout for travel friendly baby gear to help ease your travel woes.
